Riiiise and shine – it’s shoot day.
A content shoot is a team effort. From our team to yours, it is important that everyone is super prepared before we arrive on set so that we don’t waste any time and instead, we just produce content magic- together.
From the management team to any hired models to the entire team, it is imperative that everyone is adequately prepared to shoot.
We understand that while shoot days are a break from your everyday tasks, everyone has mixed feelings about getting in front of a camera for something that will be publicised online.
But one thing is for sure, nerves or not, being prepared is the best way to avoid feeling like a stunned deer in headlights.
Whether you bounced out of bed ready for your close up or have been brainstorming ways to keep away from the camera, there are a couple of things we need to make sure we are all on the same page about.
So in order to make sure we get the most out of our time together, please make sure you and your team:
Look Presentable
Don’t get this confused with being expected to wear a three-piece suit or a full face of professionally applied make up. Consider the context of what we will be shooting and come looking your best.
Natural make up is always preferred unless the context requires something more glamorous. Wash your hair and come to work in your favourite work-appropriate outfit so that you can feel as confident as possible.
Are Prepared
If you have been chosen to be apart of the shoot, that’s great! That means your team think you have camera-ready qualities. If we are shooting film please check-in and make sure you understand the ‘why’ of what we are doing together and prepare adequately.
It super important that you have a solid understanding of what you will say before you get in front of the camera. Do whatever it takes to be effortless during filming. Rehearse your dialogue in the mirror or on the drive to work and make sure to write down what you have planned so that you can jolt your memory quickly onset or we can jump in and help you without losing your positioning.
Know Exactly What You Want
In line with being prepared, please ensure you know what you want from this shoot. We will always to take photos of what we want, but that doesn’t mean that we will be highlighting everything you had envisioned.
Before shoot day, or even before we start make sure to outline exactly what photos, angles, scripts and content you are after. After you are sure of what you want, communicate it clearly with us so that we can deliver.
Dress Appropriately
Even though you may feel like a rockstar, a content shoot does not come with a team for hair, makeup or costume. In order to make sure we achieve the perfect level of professionalism come prepared with film ready clothes.
It is very important that you dress in line with the context of the shoot. This may mean you have a freshly ironed uniform or a ball gown on stand by for when it is time to get in front of the camera. Whatever it is, please avoid stripes, checkers or any complex patterns and opt for neutral or block colours. Do not wear any clothing with a logo on it unless it is specific to where you work.
Don’t Let Nerves Get You Down
We are all human, and quite frankly none of us filming you love being in front of the camera as we are much more comfortable behind the lens. So we, and everyone else, will not laugh at you if you stuff up or need help feeling confident. Remember, it is our job to make you look good. Let’s work together to make that happen. \
Don’t Forget that We Can Reshoot
Thank goodness for digital cameras, right? Do not stress yourself by worrying about imperfections or misspoken words. We will take multiple shots and photos, we need time to make sure we get it right too. And if you hate it, we can delete it and try again. Seriously, It’s that easy.
